Residents in Mays Lane have been asked to share their views on the road being included in a Chipping Barnet controlled parking zone (CPZ).

Barnet Council wants to include Mays Lane in the Chipping Barnet (D) CPZ which operates from Monday to Friday between 2pm and 3pm.

The council said as a “busy bus route” Mays Lane’s inclusion would “reduce non-residential parking, enhance road safety and ease congestion”.

In 2023 the council carried out parking engagement in the area and stress surveys.

Of the 143 properties consulted in Mays Lane, 24 residents responded to the engagement which the council considered a “low response rate”.

Only 16 residents stated they would not be in favour of the inclusion of Mays Lane in the CPZ while four supported the proposal and four were unsure.

The council noted Mays Lane had a “high volume of residents” with access to off-street parking, such as driveways, and said the introduction of a CPZ had “less of an impact” on those residents.

The council also said it was considering implementing double yellow lines on junctions and bends to “enhance road safety” as the single yellow lines in Mays Lane needed to be “reviewed”.

The consultation will run until Thursday, 14th August and residents can send their comments via email, telephone or in writing.
