The Prince of Wales in East Barnet is officially reopening on Tuesday 13th May, and it’s bringing more than just a fresh look. Following an elegant refurbishment by Heartwood Inns, this much-loved local is ready to reclaim its place as the heart of the community.
Standing proudly in the heart of East Barnet Village since 1876, The Prince of Wales is more than a pub. As the last remaining watering hole in the village, its reopening is a celebration of community and the power of a proper local.

Now part of the award-winning Heartwood Inns family, The Prince of Wales has been thoughtfully reimagined with style and warmth. From the inviting bar and characterful dining room to the sunny outdoor terrace perfect for alfresco drinks and dining, every corner has been carefully designed to feel like a home away from home.
Whether you’re after a relaxed pint, a romantic dinner, or a dog-friendly spot to gather with friends, this is a place for all occasions. Inside, you’ll find seasonal menus, perfectly poured pints, an expertly curated wine list, and handcrafted cocktails – all served with a smile by a passionate and friendly team.
The pub, nestled near Oak Hill Park and just a short stroll from Cockfosters Station is the perfect stop-off after a countryside walk or a day exploring East Barnet.
Browse the menu of seasonally inspired dishes carefully crafted by skilled chefs (princeofwaleseastbarnet.com/menus) and indulge in their iconic twice-baked cheese soufflé, with a rich Coastal Cheddar sauce. Or for a lunch time treat, feast on their sharing plates, with creamy burrata, pesto and cured meats, or feta-stuffed sweet peppers and crispy pea & broad bean croquettes, their vegetarian alternative.

For a more substantial evening meal, try their Pork Tomahawk steak from their current Spring menu. Pan-fried to perfection and infused with sage and marjoram, served alongside roasted Braeburn apple, smooth mash, and a rich Meunière sauce.
As the pub reopens, it aims to once again become the beating heart of East Barnet’s close-knit community. Expect a warm welcome and plenty of reasons to visit – from seasonal specials to delicious Sunday roasts with bottomless roast potatoes.
