Bedfont Sports 2 Barnet 0

A young Barnet side made up of academy players exited the Middlesex Senior Cup on Tuesday following a defeat against Bedfont Sports.

The Bees started brightly, with David Barbakadze flashing a shot just wide on 12 minutes, whilst Bees’ keeper David Nistor kept out George Maxwell’s free kick with a flying save soon after.

Nistor was again called upon early in the second half: doing well to block with his legs from Khyreece Smith-Reid’s shot to keep the scoreline goalless.

But Nistor was helpless on 68 minutes as Adam Sewell beat him to the ball to head into the net from close range to give the Eagles the lead.

Eight minutes later Tyler Robinson sealed the deal scoring the Eagles’ second goal with another header.

Charlie Cushion had a great chance to add a third goal near the end, his low shot trickling towards the post and out, but by then the Eagles had already secured the victory.

The Bees’ first team are back in action this Saturday with fellow play-off hopefuls Oldham Athletic the visitors to The Hive in front of the live TV cameras.
