Barnet & Culture For Youth (B&CY), the cultural education partnership for Barnet, is holding an afternoon showcase of local creatives at artsdepot in July and offering small grants to teachers and community groups to work with them to bring arts to the borough’s youth.

The afternoon event, taking place on 10th July between 4.30pm and 6.30pm at the Pentland Theatre, is open to members of the B&CY and will feature performances and taster workshops, with the opportunity to apply for one of twenty £500 small grants to be spent on engaging B&CY creative members in activity to enrich the school curriculum or community engagement programme of attendees.

Those attending will be able to take part in 15 minute taster workshops including:

  • Dance workshop led by Paula Riofrio
  • Shakespeare and circus skills with Splats Entertainment
  • Rap workshop led by Redz Man
  • Wellbeing and mindfulness with singing, dancing and mime led by Sandra Lee
  • Acrylic pouring workshop led by Laura Hampshire
  • Marketing, visuals and photography workshop led by Charo Galura

There will also be performances by Unitas Young Dancers and Hyde Dance Festival Performers.

Only B&CY Members can attend and apply but it’s free to join and open to anyone.

Places must be booked via the artsdepot website, which also includes information on how to become a B&CY member.

Barnet & Culture for Youth is funded by Barnet Council, Arts Council England and John Lyon’s Charity.
