Hopes for a new playground at Halliwick Rec in Friern Barnet have received a major boost after Labour councillor Pauline Coakley-Webb secured £150,000 for the project from Barnet Council.

Estimates suggest that it will cost between £170,000 and £250,000 to provide a new playground in the open space.

Cllr Coakley-Webb said “I want to thank the Friends of Halliwick Rec Group who have worked so hard to get to this point. The Friends of Halliwick Rec have developed a five year plan with the local community which is slowly transforming this area.

“With the tennis courts now revamped and the previous funding which sourced the table tennis table and the games picnic tables it has been a privilege to work with them.

“It will now be easier with this new funding to look for matched funding from other sources.”
