Registration to vote in May 2nd Mayor of London and London Assembly elections closes midnight 16th April

As London prepares to go to the polls on Thursday 2nd of May to elect a Mayor and members of the London Assembly, those wishing to vote who are not already registered have until midnight on Tuesday 16th of April to do so.

Those wishing to register should do so at the gov.uk site: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

This will be the first election held in Barnet where voter ID is required, after the government introduced the requirement for voters to show photo ID when voting at a polling station in May 2023.

All voters are advised to consult the Electoral Commission website for forms of photo ID that will be accepted at polling stations.

Anyone who does not have any of the accepted forms of photo ID can apply for a free voter ID document, which is known as a Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline to apply for free voter ID for the elections on Thursday 2nd May is 5pm on Wednesday 24th April.

The deadline for applying for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday 17th April. Those wishing to apply for a postal vote can find details at the Barnet Council website: https://www.barnet.gov.uk/elections-and-voting/voting/apply-vote-post
