A council consultation on the proposal says it will ‘ help balance budget’
Barnet Council has launched a consultation into plans to raise the annual charge for fortnightly garden waste collection from £70 per year to £97 per year.
On the web page for the consultation, which closes on 15th March 2024, the council explains that the proposed increase comes in the context of “unprecedented financial challenges across all areas of our work.”
Of the proposed increase, the Council say: “Barnet has not raised its garden waste charge since its introduction in 2020. Increasing the charge for garden waste collections is one of our proposals that will help us balance our budget and ensure we can sustain our current environmental service offer.”
The consultation can be found at the Barnet Council website, where details for paper copies can also be found: https://engage.barnet.gov.uk/garden-waste-charges-consultation
