The London Festival of Architecture is a month-long celebration of architecture and city-making, taking place every June across London.

Barnet Council is offering small grants ranging from £250 to £500 to artists, creative professionals, historians, residents, architects community organisations, and individuals that have an interest in cultural or architectural events to programme events for the festival.

The theme of 2024’s festival is ‘Reimagine’.  The Festival website says:

“In a time of climate and cost of living crisis, social injustice and inequality, our role as active citizens has never been more important. While the idea of resetting or restarting is impossible, we find ourselves at a point where we need to reflect, rethink, repair and rebuild – and reimagine.”

Examples of events and activities which might be funded with the small grants include workshops, talks, film showings, performances, art projects and exhibitions, food and cooking events.

The events should take place between 1 June and 30 June and they can be new or already planned activities, welcoming all members of the local community.

Proposals will assessed by against the following criteria:

  • they must have links to the festival’s theme ‘Reimagine’ relating to architecture and taking place in Barnet,
  • they must be inclusive and clearly benefit Barnet residents,
  • they must demonstrate assurances in planning and organisation
  • They must have a viable budget, offering value for money

Applications must be made by 1 March 2024 and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Successful applicants will be notified of the outcome within one week of their submission.

More information, including application details, can be found at the Barnet Council website.
