Barnet Primary Care Group is seeking views from people who have GPs in Barnet about the GP Patient Survey.

The GP Patient Survey is sent out every January to give patients the opportunity to feed back about their experiences of their GP practice.  It is carried out by research company IPSOS on behalf of NHS England.  It first took place in 2007.

In a poll carried out in spring 2023, Barnet Primary Care Group found that 90% of Barnet residents who responded were interested in knowing their surgery’s rating, but that only 17% knew of the survey’s existence and only 11% knew how their surgery rated in relation to others in their local area.

The survey asks about experiences of GP practices and other local NHS services, and includes questions about the general health of those taking part. The survey includes questions about a range of issues, such as how easy or hard it is to make an appointment at a practice, satisfaction with opening hours, the quality of care received from a GP and practice nurses, amongst other things.

In a second poll, which closes on Sunday 10th December, the Primary Care Group invites all Barnet residents or patients registered with a GP in Barnet to answer a short survey to help understand how people feel about the Patient survey and whether they have seen or heard anything about it.
