Barnet Council has earmarked the West Hendon Playing fields for a wide-ranging package of improvements and are now seeking community input into emerging plans in events across November.

The council says the playing fields are a “vital part of Barnet’s community”, but also point towards “tired built infrastructure and facilities” and limited access from adjacent communities.

The council is inviting input from the community to help develop a vision to  transform the playing fields into a ‘destination park for people and wildlife’ that offers a ‘captivating community oasis’.

To shape this vision, the council has commissioned a team of specialist consultants, including Arup, Haley Sharpe Design, Tate + Co and Sensory Trust.

Residents can complete an online questionnaire, share knowledge of existing usage of the fields and add memories to a memory map.

Those interested can also attend drop in events on Wednesday 15 November 3pm – 7:30pm at Barnet Multicultural Community Centre, NW4 3TA and Saturday 18 November 10am – 3pm at Birchen Grove Garden Centre, NW9 8RY (please note accessible toilet unavailable due to renovation).

Also open are two online webinars on Tuesday 21 November taking place between 6 and 6:45pm and 6:45 and 7:30pm.

Further details are available from the Barnet Council website.
