East Finchley Constitutional Club held a race night on Saturday 7th October, raising over £4000 in aid of the University College London Hospitals Charity Cancer Fund.

The Club had set a fundraising target of £3000, which was easily surpassed in a packed night, compared by Bill Harrigan. Bets were taken on 8 races with half the money going to charity and half being paid out as winnings. In a final race of the evening, the horses were auctioned off with the generous victor donating their £100 winnings back to the charity.

The event was organised by Liz and Dave Garder and the East Finchley Constitutional Club Sub Committee. Liz cooked her famous curry for half time refreshments and Sally Rodohan made her delicious gammon and baked irish soda bread for everyone to enjoy.

The University College London Hospitals Charity Cancer Fund is particularly close to the hearts of everyone at the Club as it has been treating long time member and club Treasurer Dave for cancer since he received his diagnosis eight years ago. The Club wanted to give something back for the excellent treatment and support Dave and his wife Liz have received.

The Club has a just giving page for anyone who missed the night and would like to contribute
