Police appeal for witnesses after Burnt Oak assault last night

A man is critically ill in hospital after being punched near Burnt Oak tube station on Watling Avenue at around midnight

Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault on a man in Burnt Oak left the victim critically ill in hospital.

The incident took place at around midnight last night next to a kiosk outside Burnt Oak underground station on Watling Avenue. The victim was punched by another man and fell to the ground.

The police were alerted by hospital staff after the man was brought into a central London hospital for treatment. He remains in hospital in a critical condition and the police are trying to establish his identity. 

Detective Sergeant Emma Thompson said: “We know from CCTV that there were people in the area outside Burnt Oak tube station at around midnight who saw what happened and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.

“A man is lying critically ill in hospital as a result of this act of violence and we need to find who is responsible.”
