A Labour shadow minister has reiterated her party’s support for the Jewish community as she visited a school this morning.

Shadow education secretary Bridget Phillipson MP visited the school with her party’s candidate for Hendon David Pinto-Duschinsky and fellow shadow minister Catherine McKinnell. She expressed her support for the Jewish community following the recent attacks on Israel by the Hamas terrorist group and the subsequent increase in antisemitic incidents in the UK.

During the visit, she talked to school leaders about their concerns including school funding and security arrangements.

Phillipson said: “Education is at the heart of how we build trust, understanding and community, and it was a great privilege to see that in action while speaking to students, school and community leaders this morning.

“There must be zero tolerance of any increase in antisemitism, and I welcome extra funding for the CST. Every child has the right to be and feel safe at school and Labour fully supports the provision of additional funding to help bolster school security.”
