A note from the editor

We are experiencing a geographical shift. For much of London’s history, the centre was the beating heart. Spending years commuting, I got used to the bustle, seeing myself as another indistinguishable face wading through the anonymous city. Now that my life has shrunk to the few miles around my flat, I have learnt to value the familiar faces and places in my local area.
I am not alone. According to a poll of 7,000 people made by market researcher Opinium, one-third of Britons plan to be more involved in their local community this year. It means the launch of Barnet Post could not come at a better time. We hope Barnet Post will solidify connections made during the pandemic and become a useful source for news and views in the borough.
I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to edit Barnet Post and help provide local news to London’s largest borough by population. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far, I hope that you enjoy reading these articles as much as I have.
Barnet Post needs your help to move into print - please contribute to our crowdfunding campaign here.
